WCS Theater Programs Entertain Audiences

Theater programs across the district are entertaining audiences with their spring shows.

Fairview High

Fairview High's theater department showed audiences that everything is better under the sea during its performance of The Little Mermaid.

Students brought Ariel, Sebastian, Prince Eric, Ursula and more to life onstage with a show full of catchy songs and dazzling costumes March 26-28.

Franklin High

Franklin High's performance of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella put audiences right into the middle of the classic tale.

The theater department performed the beloved story March 26-28. Audiences watched as Cinderella and the Prince met, fell in love and found their happily ever after.

Hillsboro School

Hillsboro School's theater department put the Peanuts gang onstage during its production of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown.

For many students, this was their first full-length musical.

"In the past, they've done junior or youth productions, but with this being the only show this year, we wanted to do something bigger," said HEMS theater director Haley Miller. "A two-hour run time was a lot for some of them, but they rose to the challenge beautifully."

The show featured students in third through eighth grades. Hillsboro School's wide range of ages makes the theater department unique, Miller says.

"Having worked for almost a decade in high school, it was an exciting and interesting twist," she said. "Finding new ways to direct and interact was a lot of fun."

Scales Elementary

Scales Elementary students jumped into a storybook with their performance of Seussical Jr.

Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and a variety of other Dr. Seuss characters took the stage as audiences followed Horton in his quest to convince others of the existence of the Whos.
