The energy in the Oak View community was contagious on Thursday, September 12.

The school's annual XSTREAM Night gave students and families the opportunity to explore various activities, including flying drones, coding with BeeBots, building with MagnaTiles and more.

"XSTREAM Night is a popular family event each year," said OVES math coach Elizabeth Puryear. "With the help of our teachers, staff and student volunteers, we are able to offer many station areas that encompass the areas of Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art and Math. There is something to enjoy here for everyone."

Brentwood Middle students' math skills are out of this world.

In eighth grade teacher Kristina Birkhead's class, students participated in a space-themed escape room to review for their first math test. They worked with a partner to solve math equations and do several challenge games in order to free the teachers, who were kidnapped by aliens.

"This is a fun way to review math," said BMS student Owen Daws. "I am enjoying getting to practice what we have learned. It is fun to get to work with friends on different problems."
