Summit High Best Buddies Slam Dunk

Pep rallies don't get much better than this! Summit High hosted its annual Best Buddies Slam Dunk event on November 12.

One by one, students in the Best Buddies program ran to a crowd of cheerleaders and basketball players and dunked a basketball while the student body cheered them on.

"It is my favorite event of the year," said Summit High Boys Head Basketball Coach Thad Burgess. "I love getting to see the joy and excitement from all the participants."

Special Olympics Tennessee also honored Summit High at this year's event. The school received a Special Olympics National Unified Champion School Banner as well as an ESPN Honor Roll recognition for its effort to provide inclusive sports and activities for students with and without intellectual disabilities.
