Want to learn more about work-based learning and the WCS Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center (EIC)? The district's College, Career and Technical Education Department (CCTE) will host two events this week to educate families about these programs.

On Wednesday, January 29, from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m., students and their families are invited to attend an EIC Open House where they can speak with teachers, parents, and current students. All rising tenth to twelfth-grade students in WCS can apply to the EIC. To access the application, simply click the EIC icon on your ClassLink Dashboard. Applications must be submitted by February 10.

The CCTE Department will then host a Work-Based Learning Open House at the EIC on Thursday, January 30 at 6:30 p.m.

Work-based learning allows juniors and seniors to explore potential career pathways. It is an online course with assignments that students complete alongside their work commitments. Students must have a valid driver’s license or reliable transportation to and from their job. The class is counted as a third or fourth-level course in the student's academic program.

The work-based learning application is open until February 28 and can be accessed on the students’ dashboard. After the application process, all students will be interviewed to discuss possible job placement opportunities. All work-based learning jobs must receive approval from the work-based learning coordinator. Students may take work-based learning for up to six credit hours if it fits within their schedule.
