WCS Spring Theater Shows Take the Spotlight
- 2024
- April
Several WCS middle and high schools opened their spring musicals the week of April 1.
Summit High's show, Footloose, has been a long time coming. The show was originally planned for the spring of 2020 and was never able to open.
"Losing that show bothered me more than I could have imagined," said SHS theater director Annie Rice. "Then this group came along. It was finally time to laugh and to embrace and definitely time to dance. These insanely talented performers took the characters, songs and moments and breathed new life into them. I can't even begin to put into words the overwhelming gratitude I feel toward this cast and crew."
Franklin High students performed Grease; Nolensville High students brought Mary Poppins to the stage; Ravenwood High took audiences to the land of fairytales with Shrek the Musical; and Woodland Middle performed Annie, Jr.
"I am so ecstatic that I got to direct this show," said WMS theater director Abby Newman. "I think the reason this musical has remained a mainstay has to do with its classic rags-to-riches narrative, larger-than-life characters and memorable music. I am so proud of everyone who is involved with this production, and my students worked super hard and knocked it out of the park."
