Students Showcase Creativity at NHS Art Camp

Rising first through twelfth graders are spending part of the summer honing their artistic skills at Nolensville High.

This year’s Summer Art Camp features several 2D and 3D projects for campers to explore. Students are creating wood scrap night lights, glass mosaics, ceramic mugs and more.

“We’re making a travel mug, and it’s been really fun,” said NHS ninth grader Olive. “We used a plastic cup, rolled it in clay, sculpted it to the right size and then fired it. We’ll actually get to drink out of them, so I’m really excited.”

The NHS art program is under the instruction of Heather Daily-Smith and Nicole Church. The camp continues through June 26.

“Art is so important because it gives kids time away from a screen,” said Daily-Smith. “It gives them the opportunity to engage every part of their brain.”
