Middle school basketball athletes competed in the annual Williamson Middle Athletic Association (WMAA) basketball tournament January 27-30.
On the final day of the competition, the Woodland Middle girls defeated Brentwood Middle 31-29 to claim the district championship. The Brentwood Middle boys defeated Page Middle 36-30 to earn first place.
The Grassland Middle girls team placed third after defeating Heritage Middle, and the Heritage Middle boys team won against Woodland Middle to win third in their category.
The top three teams are now competing in the Tennessee Middle School Athletic Association (TMSAA) sectional tournament February 3-8.
