The Schools of the Week spotlight is on Allendale Elementary and Fairview Middle this week. Take a look at the photo galleries below to see some of the fun in each school building, and see quotes from employees and students about what makes their school great.

Allendale Elementary

"My favorite thing about Allendale is that it's a fun and nice school. It's also big and safe." - AES student Lukas Hooper

"I have been at Allendale Elementary since the school opened and from the very first day, we have always had the best parent support and involvement. As a school, we go out of our way to make sure that all students feel loved and valued and making those connections is a priority at Allendale Elementary." - AES teacher Meredith Atchison

Allendale Elementary first graders are finding fun ways to encourage and support older students.

On Friday, April 14, students in AES teacher Crystal McClain's class created cards to give to some of the students who started taking the Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP) exams this week.

"We're making these cards for our book buddies," said AES student Tenley Bures. "My favorite part will be seeing our buddies get the cards before they take the test."

Fairview Middle

"Absolutely without a doubt, the students at Fairview Middle School make this a special place to teach and develop relationships that foster an environment with a family feel. I look forward to coming to work each day excited to see my students enjoy being with one another and learning new skills in my math classes." - FMS teacher Ron King

"I really enjoy doing the fine arts here. I love the creativity that comes with it and how you get out of the usual routine." - FMS student Ava Schuster

Students at Fairview Middle are using their creativity to construct paper roller coasters.

In FMS Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) teacher Mika Worden's class, students used different pieces of paper to create their track. The only building requirements were that the coaster had to have a hill and a loop.

"A marble had to be able to make it through the coaster," said FMS student Evie Bartine. "Creating the loop was fun, and it was exciting to watch the roller coaster be successful."
