The Williamson County School Board met on Monday, November 17, for its regular monthly meeting.

In his report to the Board, WCS Superintendent Jason Golden thanked the Board members and the public speakers. He spoke about the work the screen time committee has completed, noting that they first focused on cell phone usage and are now discussing the use of school devices for school purposes, as well as upcoming textbook adoptions for the next school year. 

In Student Spotlights, Fairview High's Mason Hickman won the 2025 Student Television Network Challenge Competition.

Brentwood High's Natalie Chou, Kole Claybrook, Matthew Greer, Luke Hadley, Joseph Johnson and Aidan Krauthamer all received a perfect ACT composite score. 

Centennial High's Jameson Koss and Chloe Tapperson received a perfect ACT composite score.

Franklin High's James Spruill received a perfect ACT composite score. 

Fairview High's Leah Calcutt received a perfect ACT composite score.

Independence High's Coleman Root received a perfect ACT composite score.

Page High's Gavin Thier received a perfect ACT composite score.

Ravenwood High's Justin Horrell received a perfect ACT composite score.

Summit High's Soren McDaniel received a perfect ACT composite score.

Page High's FFA Land Evaluation Team is the FFA State Land Evaluation Champions.

Summit High's Volleyball Team won the TSSAA AAA State Championship.

Thompson's Station Middle Cheerleaders are the TSSAA Game Day State Champions. 

Brentwood High Cheerleaders are the TSSAA Large Varsity State Champions.

Centennial High Cheerleaders are the TSSAA Game Day Small Varsity State Champions.

Ravenwood High Cheerleaders are the TSSAA Small Varsity State Champions.

The Brentwood High Varsity Dance Team is the TSSAA Large Varsity Jazz State Champions.

Brentwood High's Girls Cross Country team won the TSSAA Girls AAA Cross Country State Championship.

Independence High's Boys Cross Country team won the TSSAA Boys AAA Cross Country State Championship.

In Staff Spotlights, Superintendent Jason Golden was named the TSSAA  A.F. Bridges School System Administrator of the Year for the Middle Tennessee area.

Thompson's Station Middle's Andrew Hedges was named the TSSAA  A.F. Bridges School System Official of the Year for the Middle Tennessee area.

New Business, the Board:

  • Approved the Five-Year Capital Improvement plan (Annual Agenda Item) 
  • Approved the 2026-27 Calendar with Early Release and Late Start Days and the 2027-28 Calendar (Annual Agenda Item)
  • Approved the following Policies on First Reading
    • Naming of Facilities
    • Report Cards and Grading System
  • Approved the following Policies on Second Reading
    • Textbooks and Instructional Materials
    • Use of Wireless Communication Devices

In Other Business, the Board:

  • Approved October 20, 2025 School Board Meeting Minutes
  • Approved the Agenda
  • Approved the Consent Agenda, which includes:
    • Building Model Request Mill Creek Elementary School Shade Structure
    • Building Model Request Page High School Locker Room Renovation
    • Recommendation for Field Trip Fee Requests
    • Building Model Request Heritage Middle School Storage Building
