WCS Teams Advance to World Robotics Tournament

Dozens of WCS elementary, middle and high school students showcased their skills at the 2026 VEX Robotics State Championships and are now preparing for an international competition.

The Creekside Elementary Otter Robotics team earned the Judges Award, placed fourth in the Robot Skills contest and became the first elementary team in WCS history to receive an invitation for the VEX World Championship. The team's faculty sponsor is Chaitali Debadwar.

Brentwood Middle earned five of the six qualifying awards in its division. The VEX Vikings Echo team won the Innovate Award; VEX Vikings Papa is the State champion, the Design Award winner and the Robot Skills champion; and VEX Vikings Yankee won the Excellence Award. Jonathan Brooks is the Brentwood Middle faculty sponsor.

Woodland Middle's Warrior Robotics SHAADow Nova won the Create Award. Woodland Middle's faculty sponsor is Ronnie Williams.

At the high school level, Brentwood High's Tech-No-Logic won fourth place in the Robot Skills contest. The team's faculty sponsor is Curtis Haley.

"I am incredibly proud of the effort and dedication shown by our elementary, middle and high school robotics teams and their coaches," said WCS STEM Director Eric Harvey. "Our students spent countless hours designing, building, testing and refining their robots. Seeing how well our teams competed against the best in Tennessee is a true testament to the hard work, passion and daily commitment of both our students and their coaches."
