Celebrating the Class of 2023 Valedictorians, Salutatorians
Published May 30, 2023
Members of the Class of 2023 have made it across the stage, and the district wants to recognize and honor the valedictorians and salutatorians from each high school.
Valedictorians and salutatorians are at the top of their class and must qualify for the highest Latin System honor awarded at their school. They must also sit for the Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) exam for every course they are enrolled in and earn at least a 3 on 75 percent of the exams taken. Additionally, students must participate in at least 20 hours of community service during their time in high school and earn the highest overall ACT composite for their graduating class.
Many WCS high schools have more than one valedictorian and salutatorian to celebrate.
"We know that the Class of 2023 will go on to achieve great things," said Superintendent Jason Golden. "We celebrate these graduates, and we wish them all the best as they pursue their next venture."
As of June 1, members of the Class of 2023 were offered a total of $211,291,224 in scholarships. A total of $106,863,025 was accepted. Both numbers were self-reported by students.
