SafeStop App Gets Updated

Published July 30, 2019

A revamped SafeStop bus tracking app will be ready to help parents during the 2019-20 school year.

New features include the ability to set a notification area around the bus stop. Parents will be notified by text or email when the bus enters the set geographic area. Parents can also edit preferences to allow a sitter or grandparent to be alerted when the bus is near the stop. If a child leaves something on the bus, parents may email SafeStop support and the WCS Transportation Dispatch office will follow-up with the bus driver. Parents may also set the SafeStop app to work on early dismissal days.

The Transportation Department is now able to track substitute buses as well.

“We are very excited about the improvement of this new app, and we believe this tool will greatly improve the lines of communication between the Transportation Department and our parents,” said WCS Transportation Department Director Jeff Fuller.

To create an account, parents will need the student’s Other ID found under the Student Info tab in the Skyward account, available August 8.  More information is available on the WCS Bus Routes page.

To use the app, parents must create a new account, even if they already have one.
