Rumor Mill – October 1, 2019

Published October 1, 2019

How come parents cannot take pictures of students when they are visiting their child’s school?

Safety is always our top priority, and we do everything we can to protect our students. Each year during the registration process, we ask parents to select whether or not they wish to sign a media release for their child. If a parent chooses to sign the media release, that child’s image may be used in district publications like InFocus or by Nashville news market organizations.

There are many parents who do not want their child’s image to be posted online, on social media or in the local news, and we respect their wishes. That is why we ask that parents refrain from taking photos inside the school building as they would have no way of knowing which students have media releases. The one exception would be events that are open to the public such as athletic events, music programs and award ceremonies.
