Kenrose Elementary Students Explore the World

Published January 14, 2020

Second grade students at Kenrose Elementary are getting a worldwide look at maps by creating their own balloon globes.

After studying maps and the continents, Kenrose Elementary teacher Katherine Marx’s class put their knowledge to the test by placing paper continents in the correct places on a blue balloon. To remember the cardinal directions and where the continents go, the class had a special trick.

“The map is called Never Eat Soggy Waffles,” said KES student Gia Gadsden. “It reminds us of north, east, south and west. It’s a really fun way to learn the order and remember it.”
