The Franklin High School boys’ golf team is earning a place in the school’s history books by winning the state championship for the first time.

The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) boys’ golf state tournament took place October 15-16 in Manchester, Tennessee.

Franklin High placed first in the Division 1 Large Class category. The team was led by seniors Jack Wilcox, who placed fourth individually, and Jack Morris, who placed sixth individually. Other team members include Eric Schneider, Bradford Smith, Joseph Stanley, Cooper Wilcox, Harrison Akers, Eli Cleveland, Griffin Cochran, Sam Wilcox and Connor Williams.

“Our boys were tied for first place after day one, then pulled away on day two to win by nine strokes,” said FHS boys’ golf coach Jon Whipple. “It’s the school’s first team golf state championship.”

Additionally, the girls’ golf team finished fourth overall in its division.
