Clay Week at Kenrose Elementary

Published March 2, 2020

Kenrose Elementary students are getting their hands dirty during Clay Week.

Each year, KES art teacher Virginia Nix leads her classes as they mold clay into pinch pots, coiled snakes, character busts and more. This year, fourth grade students created coiled pots. After the sculptures dry and are baked in a kiln, the students will paint them.

“I had to make little circles that look like onion rings, and we used the slip to stick them together to make a pot,” said KES student Aubrie Dunlea. “I just like the fun of making something from your imagination.”
