Brentwood, Nolensville High Schools Win Volleyball State Championships

Williamson County Schools is home to two volleyball state championship teams.

Both Brentwood and Nolensville high schools beat their competition and won the titles during the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) volleyball state tournament.

This is Brentwood High’s seventh year in a row to win the state championship for the Class AAA division and its 15th state title. Brentwood High’s team members include Reese Bailey, Haley Carpenter, Zoe Oldham, Mary Oldham, Hollye Tate, Rylie Kael, Shaye Eggleston, Anza Sellers, Dylan Sulcer, Ashley Miller, Hallie Corinne Frist, Sophie Frohlich, Haley Sanders, Piper Drazek, Meredith Moody, Preslee Douty, Carol Thacker, Josie Sellers, Sophie Cummins, Sydney Siefert and Gracie Young.

“This team is so special,” said BHS head volleyball coach Barbara Campbell. “With a 54-3 record, the power of their determined attitudes, talent and heart were demonstrated all season.”

Nolensville High won its first volleyball state title after defeating the two-year champions, Portland High, in the Class AA division. The championship team includes Caroline Johnston, Charley Fulton, Lauren Starcke, Avery Patton, Maddie Donahue, Mamie Guthrie, Ellie Tant, Jasmine Jenkins, Caymin Ladd, Maggie Rickert, Sydney Bloedorn, Lourdes Doyle, Sydney Bloedorn, Avery Young, Madeline McNeely and Ana Barrera.

“This team is the most passionate, hardworking team I’ve had the pleasure to coach in my career,” said NHS head coach Brett Young. “These girls played every point as if it could be their last. This was a great experience for our team, our school and the Nolensville community, and we’re looking forward to next season and trying to do it all again.”
