2019-20 First Days of School

The school year is off to a great start for thousands of students across the county.

Administrators and teachers celebrated their return August 9 with music, photo booths and even some tasty treats. Williamson County Schools has grown to 48 schools and more than 41,000 students for the 2019-20 school year.

“We had one of the smoothest starts to a school year that I’ve experienced,” said WCS Superintendent Jason Golden. “With more than 27,000 students signed up to ride our buses, we will naturally have to make modifications over the first several weeks to bus service and the timing of routes. We know that we will need to make adjustments in other areas as well, but we are off to a great start. We appreciate the support of our families as we begin this new year.”

Golden said that more than 400 teachers have been hired due to growth and staff members retiring or moving out of the area. However, several vacancies remain in areas such as special education teaching assistants and math teachers. WCS is always looking for more bus driver candidates.

“We look for the best teachers and staff for our district, and I encourage anyone who wants to make an impact in students’ lives to apply,” said Golden.
