Teachers Prepare for 2019-20 School Year

It may be summer vacation, but Williamson County Schools teachers are already preparing for the next school year by attending professional development sessions.
Since May 29, hundreds of classes have been offered. In addition to workshops on teaching strategies and standards, teachers have been learning the new social studies curriculum created by the Social Studies Open Education Resource (OER) Team.
“It is important for teachers to learn this content now, so that it can inform the planning they do over the summer in order to start strong in August,” said WCS Executive Director of Teaching, Learning and Assessment and Professional Development Laurette Carle. “Many teachers will take what they learned in the early summer to a collaborative team planning day back at their schools in July.”
