A Page Middle student’s affinity for spelling is earning him a trip to Washington D.C.

Jack Parker’s journey to the Scripps National Spelling Bee started at a school-wide competition. After he out-spelled his fellow students, the next stop was the Tennessee Titans Regional Spelling Bee. The regional spelling bee includes students from more than 40 different counties around Middle and West Tennessee.

Jack spelled his way to the top and took first place. His winning word was odograph.

As one of the top two finishers in the regional competition, Jack earned an all-expense paid trip to the nation’s capital for the 2019 Scripps National Spelling Bee at the end of May.

“I’m honored to have gotten this far,” Jack said. “I’ll do my best to represent Page Middle.”
