FHS History Chapter Earns National Recognition

Published May 6, 2019

Franklin High National History Club students are making history of their own by being named a National History Club of the Year.

This honor is given to only 10 chapters around the country. The last time Franklin High’s chapter received this honor was 2014.

The National History Club aims to bring students and teachers with a passion for history together to share ideas and experiences. Franklin High history teacher Ray Scheetz sees the award as a sign that the Franklin chapter is accomplishing that goal.

“For us, it is a signal that our club is being innovative in the projects that we take on and that we are meeting our objective of exciting students about the study of history,” Scheetz said. “It is that enthusiasm, more than anything else, that we are grateful to have achieved through our organization.”
