A Centennial High student was sworn in to the U.S. Army on national television March 13.
Senior Thomas Kim was recognized at Bridgestone Arena during a Southeastern Conference (SEC) Men’s Basketball Tournament game. At halftime, he and several other guests were sworn in.
Thomas has been a member of the Centennial High Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) for four years and says his decision to join the Army is rooted in a sense of duty to his country.
“It is an amazing feeling for this recognition, but in reality, I enlisted because I love this country,” Thomas said. “I wanted to make my childhood dream a reality.”
