Academic All-Star – Preston Neuhaus, Sunset Elementary
Published April 2, 2019
Sunset Elementary School fifth grader Preston Neuhaus likes to be challenged.
Teachers say Preston’s willingness to take on difficult assignments is one reason they nominated him as Sunset Elementary’s Academic All-Star for the 2018-19 school year.
“Preston has built up a strong work ethic when faced with challenging assignments which require him to struggle,” said his teachers. “He knows when to ask clarifying questions to help guide his understanding as he solves problems. Overall, he takes pride in each task and always gives his best.”
While some students may shy away from tougher coursework, Preston says it’s something he relishes.
“I like challenging myself,” said Preston. “I like to learn new stuff, especially in math.”
Preston also enjoys new experiences, which is one reason why he’s looking forward to starting middle school next year.
Although he’s not entirely sure what he wants to do when he grows up, Preston says he’s intrigued by the real estate business.
“I kind of want to be a real estate agent,” said Preston.
Known for being both self-motivated and kindhearted, Preston’s teachers say he’s sure to accomplish any goal he has in mind.
“Preston has shown incredible growth socially, emotionally and academically,” said his teachers. “He is a dependable friend who expresses empathy and kindness to those around him. We’re proud to name him our Academic All-Star.”
