Academic All-Star – Hannah Martin, Grassland Middle
Published May 7, 2019
Grassland Middle School is proud to name Hannah Martin as its Academic All-Star for the 2018-19 school year.
“Hannah Martin has a contagious personality,” said GMS Interim Principal Dr. Kevin Dyson. “She brings a positive, caring attitude to school every day. Hannah has worked very hard even when things haven’t come easy to her. She has set specific goals both academically and through her extra-curricular activities, and she has dedicated herself to making sure she meets those goals.”
Hannah began attending Grassland Middle in February of 2018. Although she’s excited to make the jump to high school, Hannah says there are certain aspects of middle school that she will miss.
“I’m going to miss the counselor, Maribel Gadams, and all the people in the front office,” said Hannah. “Every time I come up here, they help me with whatever I am going through. They just help me feel better. I’m also going to miss the teachers, but not really the schoolwork.”
One of the things Hannah is looking forward to next year is the opportunity to cheer for Franklin High.
“I used to cheer in fifth grade, and I loved it,” said Hannah. “I was going to try out last year but didn’t, so I thought I’d give it a try. Honestly, I didn’t think I would make the team, but when I learned I had I was excited and crying. I just think it’s a fun activity.”
Hannah is also excited to be part of the early childhood education program at Franklin High because she loves being around children. In addition, Hannah has a soft spot in her heart for animals which is why she wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up.
For now, Hannah says she’s just excited to be able to say she’s one of this year’s Academic All-Stars.
“I’m very surprised, and very happy,” said Hannah. “I think this award is really cool. I didn’t expect it, so when I learned I won, it made me think that I must have made a good impression.”
