Published May 14, 2019
Fifth grader Eliza Acker is Winstead Elementary School’s Academic All-Star for the 2018-19 school year.
Teachers describe her as a sweet and caring student who takes her education seriously.
“Eliza always comes to school with a smile and has a wonderful work ethic,” said her teachers. “She leads by example and is always willing to help her teachers and other students. We are so proud of Eliza’s academic achievements, her love of learning and her kind heart.”
Eliza and her family moved to Williamson County when she was in fourth grade.
“I didn’t know anyone at Winstead,” said Eliza. “I was scared at first, but everyone was so welcoming, and I met so many friends.”
Eliza’s favorite subject is math, but her favorite pastime is reading.
“I love reading books,” said Eliza. “I read the whole Harry Potter series in three months.”
Some of her other favorite things to do outside of school include swimming and playing with friends. Eliza says her dream job is to be a fashion designer.
“I like to design dresses,” said Eliza. “Today, I took out this fashion designer coloring book, and I was coloring dresses. It’s a lot of fun.”
As she gets ready to head off to middle school, Eliza pledges to keep working hard and stay committed to her studies.
“I want to get into a really good college one day,” said Eliza. “School is important, because I want to be a success and have a good job when I grow up.”
