Academic All-Star – Christian Snyder, Brentwood Middle

Brentwood Middle School is proud to name 14-year-old Christian Snyder as its Academic All-Star for the 2018-19 school year.
“Christian has demonstrated a relentless work ethic over the past three years as he has worked to reach his personal best in the classroom,” said BMS Principal Dr. Brandon Barkley. “We could not be prouder of Christian for all his hard work and his never give up attitude.”
Christian began attending Brentwood Middle School in sixth grade after moving here from Michigan. Although it was scary at first, Christian feels fortunate to be at such a great school.
“It was tough when I first came here, because I didn’t know anyone,” said Christian. “But everyone was nice, and the school is really supportive. The teachers have been there through thick and thin. I’ve never experienced that before.”
When he first came to Brentwood Middle, Christian admits he struggled with reading, but thanks to the help received from his teachers – along with his own determination – he has made incredible strides.
“At first, improving my reading was hard, but I tried to get through it, and I did,” said Christian. “Now, I’ll just keep on going and try to get better.”
When it comes to school, Christian’s favorite subject is social studies because he likes to learn about history. Outside of the classroom, he enjoys playing video games and spending time with friends.
Although he may have to move to a high school outside of the district next year, Christian knows the lessons he learned at Brentwood Middle will help him down the line.
“I can handle it,” said Christian. “School is meant for you to build and be successful in life, so I’m going to go off of that and plan my future to be the best possible.”
