Academic All-Star – Austyn Ladd, Mill Creek Elementary
Published April 9, 2019
Considerate, compassionate and committed. Those are some of the adjectives teachers use to describe Austyn Ladd, who was just named Mill Creek Elementary School’s Academic All-Star.
“Austyn is a student who consistently works hard, perseveres and asks questions to further her understanding of the material in class,” said her teachers. “She has shown a tremendous amount of growth this school year due in part to her positive attitude. Austyn is always willing to take time away from her own work to help her peers succeed. She is a true joy to have in class.”
Austyn began attending Mill Creek when the school opened in 2016 and says she couldn’t be happier.
“I really wanted to come to this school because some of my teachers had moved here from my old school, and I wanted to see them again,” said Austyn. “Also, I like the students here. They are really nice.”
Austyn favorite subject is math, and her favorite past-time is dancing.
“I’ve been taking dance lessons since I was three-years-old,” said Austyn. “Now I do competitive dance which I really like. I’ve made a lot of good friends at my studio, and I like to travel and compete.”
Although she’s only 11-years-old, Austyn says she already knows exactly what she wants to be when she grows up.
“I want to be a fourth-grade teacher,” said Austyn. “I really loved everything we learned in fourth grade, and I just think it would be so much fun to be with the kids all day.”
With that in mind, Austyn knows she’ll have to continue working hard in school, especially now that she’s been named an Academic All-Star.
“It feels so special,” said Austyn. “I was so excited when it was announced because we’ve known about this the whole year. It just makes me so happy.”
