Woodland Middle School students are proving they are mathematical masters.

The Woodland Middle Math Team competed in the Middle Grades Math Competition at Middle Tennessee State University and swept through the competition.

At each grade level, the team took home the first place traveling trophy. The sixth grade team had a combined score of 545 points, the seventh grade team had 486 points and the eighth grade team had 459 points.

Individually, the Woodland Middle Warriors also had a fantastic showing at the competition. In sixth grade, Sophie McAtee tied for first place, and Min-Jae Bae won third place.

Neel Chavan and Sheerea Yu tied for first in the seventh grade level, and Daniel Chen and Greta Li placed second and third respectively in the eighth grade competition.

“I am extremely proud of all the students who participated,” said WMS Math Coach sponsor Brian Riefenberg. “They worked extremely hard to reach their level of success in a very challenging competition.”
