Williamson County Schools is making it easier for students to register to vote.
Secretary of State Tre Hargett and Williamson County government employees made the rounds and visited WCS high schools for National Voter Registration Day. On Tuesday, September 26, they stopped by Ravenwood High School to encourage students to register. Tables were set up with laptops so students could register online between classes or during study hall.
“It’s important to encourage young eligible potential voters to register,” said Williamson County’s Administrator of Elections Chad Gray. “It’s very helpful for the students to get that taken care of.”
To be eligible to vote, students must be U.S. citizens, residents of Tennessee and be turning 18 before May 1, 2018. Students should make sure they have their Social Security number, address, date of birth and city and state of birth on-hand to register.
