Williamson County high school cheerleaders and dancers made sure everyone knew what they could do at the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) Cheer and Dance Championships on November 11.
Four cheer teams and one dance team returned from the competition with state titles under their belts.
In cheerleading, Franklin High secured its spot at the top by becoming the Small Varsity Division State Champions.
“Over the past seven months, we have continued to push the girls to reach the highest of expectations, and through their hard work, dedication, drive and passion for their sport and their team, they have exceeded it all,” said FHS coach Jessica Clark.
The Ravenwood High varsity competition squad continued its streak by winning the Medium Varsity Division for the fifth year in a row.
“I’m so proud of my team,” said RHS captain Morgan Lanus. “We put so much effort into our routine, and I’m glad the hard work continues to pay off.”
Centennial High’s varsity competition cheer squad also had great success at the competition. The team took home the state title for the Large Varsity Division.
“You won’t find a group of more competitive girls than these talented ladies,” said CHS coach Melissa Ball. “Just when I think they’ve reached their peak, they climb further. This is just the beginning of the adventure for this team.”
Summit High School won first place in the Co-Ed Division.
Cheerleaders weren’t the only ones to take home the gold. The Brentwood High Bruinettes dance team placed first in the Medium Varsity Jazz Division.
“These girls have worked extremely hard this year,” said BHS coach Lynzey Fulco. “These girls are a true team. They build each other up, push each other and encourage each other every day. It’s been so wonderful watching them grow into such a strong unit.”
Congratulations to all the teams for their hard work!
