WCS Teachers Prepare for Spring Semester

The 2017-18 spring semester is underway. To help prepare, WCS teachers gathered January 3 for a day of district-wide professional development.

Teachers discussed changes for the upcoming year, how to support and challenge their students and other teaching strategies that would come in handy during the semester.

“For example, English Language Arts teachers met at Summit High to select sessions on various strategies such as small group instruction, writing, integrating technology and questioning,” said WCS Professional Development Director Laurette Carle. “School counselors received training on how stress and trauma affect students..”

The sessions let teachers learn from others as their peers shared what they learned at regional and national conferences.

“Overall, it was a great way to kick off the new year,” Carle said.
