WCS Hosts District Leaders from Across Nation

Williamson County Schools is working with other districts from around the nation to share ideas and improve performance as it hosts the 2017 Mid-States Benchmarking Consortium.

The consortium is made up of nine high performing school districts of similar size and demographics. Consortium district leaders meet periodically to talk about best practices and strategies for improvement and to share learning experiences.

“We are thrilled to welcome our fellow educators to Williamson County this week,” said Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney. “This is a great opportunity for us to collaborate and communicate as we develop new ways to improve learning for all students.”

The visit began Wednesday with a tour of the Mill Creek Elementary, Middle Creek Middle and Nolensville High campus. District leaders also participated in work sessions and heard a keynote address from Middle Tennessee State University Professor Emeritus Dr. Robert Eaker.

“This experience has been an energizing one for me,” said Independence High Principal Dr. Niki Patton. “I’m ready to get back into my building and share what I’ve learned with my administrative team.”

In addition to WCS, the 2017 Mid-States Benchmarking Consortium includes representatives from schools districts in Arizona, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and South Dakota.
