WCS Celebrates Occupational Diploma Recipients

Williamson County Schools is proud to recognize this year’s occupational diploma recipients.
On May 9, the district presented commemorative plaques to 23 high school seniors at the 2018 Occupational Diploma Recognition Celebration in Franklin. In addition, three dozen WCS juniors were recognized with certificates for their participation in the program.
The occupational diploma is one of three diploma options for students with disabilities exiting high school and has a strong focus on vocational/career outcomes. In order to receive an occupational diploma, students must meet a number of requirements including the completion of two years of paid or non-paid work experience.
Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Schools Dr. Charles Farmer spoke at Wednesday’s event and urged the students to focus on connections, contributions and vitality as they begin the next stage of their lives.
“This is always one of my favorite events of the year,” said Farmer. “The vitality of this program is just amazing, and I could not be more proud of these students and what they have accomplished.”
Following the ceremony, those in attendance enjoyed a lunch prepared by students in the Franklin High School culinary arts program.
