Two WCS Students Join Army All-American Marching Band

Two students from Williamson County Schools are among the best marching band members in the country.

Ravenwood High School student Elizabeth Winchester and Page High School student Nathan Mohnke were selected to the 2018 Army All-American Marching Band.

Nathan, who plays trombone, was nominated by former PHS band director Matt Emerson.

“To work so hard for something and be recognized by a band director who you look up to is very rewarding,” Nathan said.

Nathan was recognized at a ceremony on Monday, October 9. His band-mates and his statistics classmates were there to support him.

“It feels great,” said Nathan. “I’ve been waiting to celebrate with my band-mates, because they’re really my family. I want to share this moment with them.”

Elizabeth, a member of the color guard at RHS, was recognized on October 6. She was nominated by her band director, Mark Kinzer.

“Elizabeth has been a member of the RHS band program for the past four years,” said Kinzer. “She is a hard-working performer who strives to achieve excellence in her performances.”

As part of the 2018 Army All-American Marching Band, both Elizabeth and Nathan will go to San Antonio for Bowl Week. They will have the chance to learn from top instructors from around the country as well as members of the U.S. Army Field Band. On January 6, they will perform during halftime of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
