Students Give SRO Surprise Send-Off

Published May 10, 2018

Students at Edmondson Elementary gave their School Resource Officer a special send-off last month as she prepared for an overseas deployment.

Not only does Deputy Kionna Scott-McGrail work for the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, but she is also a Combat Medic in the Tennessee Army National Guard.

After learning their beloved SRO would be deployed overseas in support of our troops, the students and staff at Edmondson devised a secret plan to wish her well.

On April 26, Deputy Scott-McGrail was called into a room to assist another person. Unbeknownst to her, a special video was played throughout the school with video capturing students and staff wishing her luck and letting her know the impact she has made at Edmondson. The students and teachers then left their classrooms and lined the halls. When Officer Scott- McGrail emerged from the room, she was greeted with cheers, hugs and well-wishes.

In continued support during her deployment next year, letters and care packages will be sent to encourage and continue to support her during this time of service to our country.
