Renaissance High Students Create, Animate and Innovate

Published April 20, 2018

Where can you listen to podcasts, watch a makeup video and learn about self-defense all in the same room?

The answer is Renaissance High’s Innovation Fair. Each semester, the students get the opportunity to showcase projects about topics that interest them and make a presentation to share what they learned.

Renaissance High’s Alex Rodriguez and her partner’s project involved making a mural out of a science classroom. The group used inspiration from the women in the movie Hidden Figures to create their final masterpiece.

“We’re able to just be us and choose something that we like,” said Alex. “This is a project that interests me, and that’s really exciting.”

Attendees voted on their favorite projects, which were also nominated for different awards such as the Megaphone Award and the Outside the Box Award.

The fair ended with a promotional video encouraging people to attend the annual Renaissance High student album release party. The album release party is open to the public and will be held at the school on Saturday, April 21 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. There is a suggested donation of $5, and the student album, 108, can also be purchased. Proceeds from the album sales will benefit the Oasis Center.
