Several Ravenwood High students gave award-winning performances at the 2018 Tennessee High School Speech and Drama League (THSSDL) State Championship on April 13-14.
THSSDL is an organization meant to act as a voice for speech and drama educators throughout the state. It also tests the skills of students in areas like solo-acting and interpreters’ theatre.
Ravenwood High’s Laura Asmussen placed first in set design. In the prose category, Olivia Williamson placed second and Ansley Rosen third. Kaili Liu took fifth place in the extemporaneous speaking category.
“Elisa Dirkes-Jacks and I are so proud of the work and effort that has been put in by these students this year,” said Ravenwood High Forensics Coach Brian Kaufman. “These are true leaders, and their talents will definitely make our world a better place.”
In addition to the students placing at the THSSDL championship, Riya Jain and Rohan Jaisinghani were selected to represent Tennessee on the World Schools Debate Team at the National Speech and Debate Association National Tournament in June.
