Page High History Teacher Recognized on National Level

A Page High School teacher is garnering national recognition for his commitment to his craft.
The National Council for Geographic Education (NCGE) named Page named Kevin Dockery a recipient of the 2018 Distinguished Teaching Award K-12.
The award is meant to honor educators who have made extraordinary contributions to teaching and learning in the classroom.
“Geography is so much more than studying maps,” said Dockery. “It’s about interaction of people, cultures, language and religion. It impacts everyone’s lives, every day.”
Back in January, Dockery submitted a detailed application including reference letters, lesson plans and his educational background and philosophies to show what set him apart from other teachers.
“I’m honored to receive this award, and more than anything I am glad to see geography education recognized nationally and internationally,” Dockery said.
Dockery will be formally recognized and awarded at a 2018 NCGE Conference in Quebec City on August 6-10.
“There will be geographers from all over North America and the world in attendance,” Dockery said. “My administration, WCS Curriculum Specialist David Rector and WSC Assistant Superintendent Dr. Charles Farmer have been very supportive and helpful in not only helping me win the award but also with attending the ceremony. I’m very thankful for that and glad to bring the recognition to WCS and Page High School.”
