National Merit Commended Students Announced

Published September 20, 2017

Williamson County Schools students continue to gain national recognition within the National Merit Program with 64 students being named National Merit Commended Students.

National Merit Commended Students are in the top 5 percent of all entrants into the National Merit Program. Around 1.6 million students enter the National Merit Program each year, and only 34,000 of those are named Commended Students.

The Commended Students are chosen based on a yearly Selection Index, and though they don’t continue as candidates for the National Merit Scholarships, they are still in the running for any special scholarships sponsored by corporations and businesses.
