Medical Skills Take Students to International HOSA Conference

Published April 20, 2018

More than a dozen WCS students will compete at the HOSA International Leadership Conference this June.

This follows their performance at the Tennessee HOSA State Leadership Conference. In each category, the top three students qualified to compete at the international level in Dallas.

“HOSA’s mission is to empower students and help them develop leadership and technical healthcare-related skills,” said Summit High health science teacher Christina Isong. “This is an important part of our Health Science Education instructional program.”

In addition to individual award winners, Independence High School’s Emily Cole was one of the few students to advance to internationals in the Outstanding HOSA Chapter for her scrapbook. Summit High School’s Lori Hanes was named a finalist for the HOSA Happenings Award, which is given to a chapter whose newsletter or website earned an 80 percent approval rating at the state level.

Summit High student Samantha Wright was also chosen to be the TN HOSA Reporter/Historian for the 2018-19 year.
