As the Independence High School Eagles prepare to take on Ravenwood tonight in the second round of the playoffs, their head coach, Scott Blade, is earning some recognition of his own.

On Thursday, November 8, Blade was recognized by the Tennessee Secondary School Athletics Association (TSSAA) as District 6’s Male Coach of the Year.

This title is one of 63 that is awarded to those who represent the best of high school athletics.

“I am honored to receive the award,” Blade said. “From the players and assistant coaches to the administration and the community, the award represents the hard work of many.”
