This week, the Brentwood Middle School Student Government Association (SGA) welcomed students from across Middle Tennessee for the annual Tennessee Association of School Councils (TASC) workshop.
The event, which was held October 24, featured more than 500 students from across the Mid-State. This year’s theme was The Strongest Waves of Leadership. While many of the sessions were led by former and current BMS SGA members, the general session’s keynote speaker was BMS teacher and former NFL star Dennis Harrison, who spoke on leadership and integrity. Other topics discussed throughout the workshop included managing stress and anxiety, fundraiser ideas and internal inspiration.
“Seeing our students lead and teach others was inspiring, and the collaboration with Brentwood High students was very neat,” said BMS Principal Dr. Brandon Barkley. “Those student government relationships run strong, and their support of each other is critical for the growth and longevity of this program.”
The Brentwood Middle SGA advisers are Kristi Coble, Abby Fletcher and Angie McKee.
