Brentwood High Educator Recognized as Teacher of the Year

With more than 40 years of teaching under her belt, Brentwood High School educator Harriet Medlin is receiving some well-deserved recognition.

Last week, The Tennessee Association for the Gifted named Medlin as its 2017 Teacher of the Year during the annual TAG Conference in Nashville. It was an honor Medlin did not expect.

“The award was a huge surprise,” Medlin said. “From where I was sitting at the luncheon, I could not hear a word that was being said. When a teacher at my table said that they were calling my name, I thought I had won a door prize.”

Although she’s been teaching for over four decades, Medlin says her passion for helping students is stronger than ever, and she plans to use this award as motivation for the future.

“I am thrilled beyond words and very humbled at the recognition,” she said. “This honor motivates me to keep working hard for my students and to be a help not only to the teachers at Brentwood High School but to all of my colleagues.”
