Billion Dollar Breakthrough Achieved

Published May 7, 2018

It’s a historic moment in Williamson County Schools. In just eight years, WCS graduates have earned more than a billion dollars in scholarships offered to them.

As of today, the scholarships offered to the Class of 2018 has sent the total over a billion dollars thus accomplishing the challenge that Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney issued at the beginning of the school year known as the Billion Dollar Breakthrough.

“It’s almost unimaginable for me to think that we could reach this milestone in such a short period of time,” said Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney. “I am so proud of our students, our teachers, administrators and staff.”

The total amount offered to date is $1,035,361,533 with more offers continuing to flow into the Class of 2018.

“Scholarships provide opportunities to students that might not have been available to them,” said Looney. “As I have said many times before, when students are able to further their education with a scholarship, that’s more money in the pockets of moms and dads and more money that stays in our local economy.”
