Bethesda Elementary Kindergartners Time Travel to the 50s

Kindergartners at Bethesda Elementary School are celebrating their 50th day of school with a sock hop.
Students came to school dressed in poodle skirts, bobby socks and leather jackets as they paid homage to the 1950’s. While in the gym, the students played with hula hoops and learned fun dances like the Hand Jive.
The festivities continued in the classrooms, where students colored jukeboxes and practiced counting to 50. The party was capped off with some old-fashioned Coke floats.
Kindergarten teacher Amy Cooper says it’s a fun tradition for the school.
“The kids love the sock hop with the 50’s music and getting to dance with their friends,” said Cooper. “I’ve been here 14 years, and we’ve been doing it practically every year.”
