Published October 5, 2017

Art is paying off for several Williamson County high school students and their schools.

For the past 30 years, the Williamson Medical Center has hosted an art competition for high school students. Out of all entries, only 12 finalists are selected.

This year, all 12 finalists came from WCS high schools.

Each student’s artwork is professionally framed and put on display inside the hospital until August 2018. Also, new to the 2017 competition, the works are posted on the Williamson Medical Center website’s art page.

As finalists, each student received a personal cash prize as well as a cash prize for their school’s art departments.

Franklin High School’s Gabriella Dorough placed first earning a $1,000 prize; Summit High student Emily Turner won second and earned $500; and third place was taken by Brentwood High’s Lilly Hollis who earned $250. The remaining finalists received $100 dollars each.
