Published May 10, 2018
Having just graduated from Lipscomb University’s IDEAL program, former WCS student Brad Bramlett is ready for his next opportunity.
The Summit High School graduate worked for a year at Nissan World Headquarters prior to his acceptance into the IDEAL program. IDEAL stands for Igniting the Dream of Education and Access at Lipscomb. It is a two year, non-residential certificate program that is designed to encourage students with intellectual or developmental disabilities to experience college like their peers.
While there, Bramlett completed an internship with the Tennessee Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (DIDD).
What were some of your responsibilities at DIDD?
While at DIDD, I had weekly tasks of looking up information on disabilities, job postings and writing in the weekly newsletter Open Line. I also edited on-camera interviews. There was always something new for me to learn.
Which Williamson County schools did you attend?
I attended Bethesda Elementary, Heritage Middle School, and I graduated from Summit High School in 2015.
What did you enjoy most about your high school experience?
My most enjoyable experience in high school was working in the TV/Film department and producing the daily news program called The Summit View.
What WCS teacher made a difference in your life and how?
Mrs. Kim Vincent was very helpful planning my class schedule for all four years at Summit. She always encouraged me to do my best.
While interning at DIDD, Bramlett produced a video story about his experience which can be viewed below.
