ACE Mentor Teams Registration Now Open

Published August 30, 2017

Registration for the Williamson County ACE Mentor Teams (ACE) is now open.

ACE is an after-school program meant for Tennessee high school students who are interested in learning about and pursuing a career in architecture, construction or engineering.

Design and construction companies “adopt” a group of students during the school year. The students are then organized into a structure that mimics real-life construction teams. The companies serve as mentors who give the students a chance to see what working in these fields is like.

During the school year, the students will usually meet with their mentors every two weeks at various locations. These meetings could include office tours, field trips or hands-on activities.

Students will be challenged to develop a concept and create a presentation to be shown in April at the 2018 ACE Scholarship Awards Banquet. Students who successfully participate in the ACE program may be eligible for a scholarship.

In order to register for the ACE Mentor Program in Williamson County, students must either be a junior or senior, have a GPA of 2.5 or higher, have their parents’ permission and be in good disciplinary standing.

For more information about the program and to apply online, go to the ACE website and click on the “Student” tab. Questions can be sent to Dave Allen, WCS Executive Director of Middle and High Schools. He may also be reached at 615-472-4071.

Students must register for the ACE Mentor Program by Friday, September 15.
