Academic All-Star – Rochelle Sin, Allendale Elementary

The Academic All-Star award is given to students who exhibit a positive attitude and a commitment to excellence in the classroom. Each Academic All-Star is chosen by his or her principal and receives a framed certificate, free food from Sonic Drive-In and other gifts from the district.
Fourth grader Rochelle Sin is known throughout Allendale Elementary School for her cheerful attitude and determination.
Those are two reasons why teachers and administrators named her as the school’s Academic All-Star for the 2017-18 school year.
“Rochelle is willing to do what it takes to be the best she can be,” said her teachers. “No matter what type of instruction she receives, she finds a way to make the best out of every minute. Before leaving the classroom, she always thanks the teacher for helping her with her tasks. Rochelle is a true advocate for her education, and we believe she is a great example for all students to follow.”
This is Rochelle’s first year at Allendale. She moved to Middle Tennessee over the summer and says making the transition to a new school and a new grade was scary at first.
“I was nervous the first few days,” said Rochelle. “Fourth grade is a really big deal, but I like meeting new teachers and friends.”
Although she likes all subject areas, Rochelle admits math and social studies are her two favorites. When she grows up, she hopes to use her knowledge to help animals.
“I want to be a veterinarian,” said Rochelle. “I have loved animals since I was born. I have one dog, two cats and a fish.”
With the first semester about to end, Rochelle says this award will serve as motivation moving forward.
“It means a lot,” said Rochelle. “This award makes me feel grateful, joyful and happy.”
