The Academic All-Star award is given to students who exhibit a positive attitude and a commitment to excellence in the classroom. Each Academic All-Star is chosen by his or her principal and receives a framed certificate, free food from Sonic Drive-In and other gifts from the district.

Eighth grader Nabeeha Khan is this year’s Academic All-Star award winner for Brentwood Middle School.

Teachers and administrators chose her for this honor based on the incredible improvement she’s shown.

“Nabeeha has worked very hard, and she has come a long way since sixth grade,” said BMS Principal Dr. Brandon Barkley. “She is very deserving of this honor.”

Not only is Nabeeha known for working hard in the classroom, but she also has a way of lifting the spirits of everyone she meets.

“Nabeeha has a wonderful personality,” said Barkley. “We’ve enjoyed having her at Brentwood Middle these last three years.”

The feeling is mutual for Nabeeha who says Brentwood Middle is a great school.

“My favorite subject is math because numbers are fun and I like finding the x value,” said Nabeeha. “School is for me to learn, so I have to keep working and keep having a positive attitude.”

When she’s not in school, Nabeeha likes to watch TV, listen to music and dabble in the kitchen.

“I want to be a baker when I grow up,” said Nabeeha. “I love cakes and sweet treats.”

In the meantime, Nabeeha says she’s going to enjoy the thrill that comes with being named an Academic All-Star.

“I shouldn’t be modest,” said Nabeeha. “I should be happy.”
